SHARING EXPERIENCE ON SUN CONURES
Kiwi the sun conure was hatched May 11, 2012, and was purchased from Petco on October 06, 2012. He was purchased on impulse without proper education on his owner’s part, yet he is loved and spoiled with constant attention, loud squawks and small nips readily and easily overlooked. His owner has the patience and dedication he requires, and makes sure the needs of her little bird friend are met.
Every morning, Kiwi loves to greet his owner with squawks, and when his owner gets back from work, he squawks his welcome home. Kiwi is a loving bird who loves to show his affections towards his owner by grooming, nibbling, and giving little conure kisses. When he is a happy conure, he bobs his head, shakes his head, dances from side to side, tries to say his name, and mimics his owner, such as nodding his head when his owner nods her head, mimicking the sound of hands clapping when his owner claps her hands, and mimics laughter when his owner laughs at his silly antics.
Sometimes Kiwi can be seen on his back nibbling his feet and grabbing his tail with his feet. He will play with his owner’s fingers, and enjoys scratches around his ears and under his wings. He often likes to climb onto his owner’s head and sit there nodding and shaking his head constantly. When he wants to, he will snuggle up inside his owner’s hoodies or lay on his back while in his owner’s hands or lap. Every now and then, he will play peek-a-boo when he is inside his cage, by peeking out from behind his toys and quickly hiding.
So far, Kiwi has learned to say his name, how to mimic human laughter exceptionally well (he almost sounds like a laughing hyena), and how to mimic hands clapping together. For some peculiar reason, he likes to join in on his owner’s conversations with other people in-person or on the phone. This little bird loves attention and loves to be heard!
